The Office of Learning Communities is a joint Student Affairs-Academic Affairs collaboration, and as such reports through two distinct areas, Office of the Associate Provost (Academic Affairs) and the Office of Residence Life (Student Affairs).  The Office of Learning Communities was created in July 2003 to support the growing learning community program at Syracuse University

The mission of the Office of Learning Communities is to promote, enhance, and support students' academic, personal, and professional growth and success through the development of residential and non-residential learning communities at Syracuse University.

Several people work to accomplish this mission and manage the short-term and long-term development of the learning community program.  They include:

Sandra N. Hurd, Associate Provost and Director of Learning Communities for Academic Affairs

Terra L. Peckskamp, Associate Director of Resident Life and Director of Learning Communities for Student Affairs

Daniel P.Cutler, Assistant Director, Office of Learning Communities

Carolynn Rayome, Communications and Program Coordinator

Barbara A. Yonai, Director, Office of Institutional Research and Assessment

These staff members are supported by many different offices and people on campus who make the development and implementation of learning communities possible.
